Harbin Institute of Petroleum | Chinese Universities

Harbin Institute of Petroleum (HIP) is an ordinary baccalaureate college, featured by petroleum and petrochemical, and takes engineering as main major, coordinately developed by economics, liberal arts, management and fine arts. HIP was founded in 2003, the original name was Huarui Institute of Daqing Petroleum Institute. It was a full-time undergraduate school approved and authorized by the Ministry of Education to issue university diploma and bachelor’s degree, and renamed as Harbin Institute of Petroleum (HIP) in 2012. HIP is located in the new zone of Harbin City.

Based on the local area, HIP is oriented to the national petroleum and petrochemical industry, and actively adapts to the needs of modern industry and social development, and establishes a subject specialty group served for petroleum and petrochemical industry. HIP is equipped with ten secondary faculties of petroleum engineering, chemical engineering, mechanical engineering, civil engineering, information engineering, automatic control engineering, economic management, foreign languages, fine arts and international education. HIP has 29 undergraduate majors, among which the "mechanical and electronic engineering" discipline has been named as the key construction discipline of Heilongjiang province. HIP is committed to developing high-quality application type engineers with social responsibility, innovative entrepreneurial spirit, practical ability and down-to-earth quality. Currently, there are over 9,000 undergraduates and overseas students, and nearly 20,000 graduate talents are trained.

HIP has established close education cooperation with the University of Texas of Arlington, National Normal University of Moscow, Russia, Saint-Petersburg State University, Far Eastern Federal University, Novosibirsk National Architecture University, Tomsk State National University, Post-Baikal State University, InBashle University, Naples Academy of Fine Arts, Avellino Conservatory of Music, Seoul National Institute of Integrated Science, Suwon University, Makin University, Thailand Boran University, Thailand Rehabil the University. Therefore, HIP provides facilities for the students to get the jobs, exchange to study abroad and obtain master's degree of foreign university.

The International Education division of the Harbin Institute of Petroleum actively promotes international exchange and cooperation. It learns from and recruits those from abroad who hold progressive views of education and who have valuable resources of knowledge. We are working hard to offer our students a combined four year college plus two year masters degree program (4+2). We also set up lectures and salons featuring foreign experts, and organize student exchange programs and other forms of friendly exchanges. During the winter and summer vacations our school holds a rich variety of international education cooperative programs, fulfilling the wishes of our students at various levels for an international education. We are cultivating talented, high achieving people who have a global outlook and the capacity to participate in international exchange, and who have a relatively high technical level and practical abilities.
