The school actively aligns itself with the national strategic demands and local industry development needs, upholds the excellent tradition of school-enterprise cooperation, and vigorously promotes the integration of industry and education, as well as science and education. The project "Development and Application of Adsorption Materials for Oil Color Removal Based on Dry Activation Method" won the National Technology Invention Award. In the past five years, the school has received 1 first prize in the Philosophy and Social Sciences of the Ministry of Education, 1 first prize in the National Defense Science and Technology Progress Award, and over 40 provincial-level awards such as provincial science and technology progress awards and provincial excellent achievements of philosophy and social sciences; the school has entered the top 50 of the "China University Patent Transfer Ranking List". It has also established 53 provincial-level platforms, such as the ICT Industry-Education-City Integration Innovation Base of the Ministry of Education, the Collaborative Innovation Center for Deep Utilization of Rock Salt and Ochre Resources, the Engineering Practice Education Center for Salt Chemicals, the Industrial Talent Training Base, and the University Student Entrepreneurship Demonstration Base. All disciplines and majors have achieved full coverage of provincial-level and above platforms. The school has been selected as a "Dual High-End Collaborative" Innovation Development Pilot Unit. The Suzhou North Development Research Institute has been approved as a "Provincial Key Cultivation Think Tank", and has been selected among the top 100 in the China Think Tank Index Source Database. Many research results have received affirmative instructions from provincial and ministerial-level leaders. The "1111 Project" of School-City Integration has become a distinctive brand and typical case of industrial-education-science integration in the province.

The school has an active international exchange and cooperation program. It has jointly launched undergraduate education in logistics engineering with the University of Applied Sciences in Jyväskylä, Finland, and jointly established the "China-Europe Canal Culture Research and Exchange Center" with the University of Salento in Italy. It has also carried out joint doctoral student training programs with universities such as Lorraine University in France and Nagasaki Comprehensive Science University in Japan. It has collaborated with Taiwan-based company Pingding Holdings to apply for and be selected as a construction unit of the "Zhenghe College" by Jiangsu Province's universities. It has jointly established the "Huai'an University - Delaware College" with the University of Delaware in the United States. It has trained over 500 undergraduate and master's students studying in China. It has been awarded the title of "Advanced Collective for Education of International Students in Jiangsu Province" and "Outstanding Contribution Award for Education of International Students in Jiangsu Province" several times. The brand of "Studying at Huadong University" continues to shine.
