About the University

Guangxi Overseas Chinese School was originally named "Nanning Returned Overseas Chinese Students Secondary School". In June 1960, under the kind care of Premier Zhou Enlai, the former Chinese Overseas Chinese Committee assisted overseas Chinese returning from 8 countries including Indonesia, Myanmar, Vietnam and Malaysia. Founded by young students to overcome language barriers, learn the culture of the motherland, and achieve a smooth transition, it is one of the five overseas Chinese schools in the national overseas Chinese affairs system, and it is subordinate to the United Front Work Department of the Party Committee of the autonomous region. In 2003, the school was transformed into a general technical secondary school and was renamed "Guangxi Overseas Chinese School". In 2000, it became the first batch of Chinese education bases of the Overseas Chinese Affairs Office of the State Council. In 2015, it was designated as the national secondary vocational education reform and development model school. In 2018, it was awarded the first batch of four-star secondary vocational schools in the autonomous region. Jointly awarded the honorary title of "Advanced Organization of the All-China Federation of Returned Overseas Chinese", and in 2019, it will become the international Chinese cultural exchange base of the All-China Federation of Returned Overseas Chinese.

The development and growth of the school has always been inseparable from the ardent care and strong support of leaders at all levels. Guangxi Overseas Chinese School currently has 680 acres of planned land, divided into Qingchuan campus and ASEAN campus. There are 297 faculty members, of which 154 have a graduate degree or above, and 174 have intermediate or senior titles. There are nearly 7,000 students enrolled in the school in 2020, and there are more than 500 international students enrolled throughout the year. International students mainly come from 16 countries and regions including the United States, Russia, France, Thailand, Laos, Cote d’Ivoire, and Australia.

In recent years, Guangxi Overseas Chinese School has been adhering to the school-running philosophy of "Chinese and foreign students learn from each other in virtue and industry", and firmly grasped the new opportunities brought by the permanent establishment of the China-ASEAN Expo in Nanning and the opening and development of the Beibu Gulf Economic Zone, based in Guangxi and facing ASEAN , Is committed to cultivating skilled personnel for China-ASEAN services, creating industry backbones that connect with the Beibu Gulf Economic Zone, and creating a first-class business language talent training base for "Chinese people learn ASEAN and foreigners learn Chinese". The secondary vocational education school consists of three major majors: foreign language, information and business, covering 6 major categories and a total of 20 majors. The foreign language major has 6 majors including preschool education, business English, business Thai, business Vietnamese, business Japanese, and business Korean. The ASEAN minor language major has become the school’s characteristic brand major, and the ASEAN minor language major group is the core business. Foreign language majors have been recognized as model specialty majors in the autonomous region. The Information Technology Department has established a digital cultural and creative professional group and automobile application with the major of computer animation and game production as the core majors, and the existing majors of architectural decoration, computer graphic design, computer network technology, and digital media technology application as the backbone majors. There are a total of 6 professional directions in the professional cluster of maintenance and transportation. Possesses 2 famous teacher workshops in Guangxi Secondary Vocational School. In 2010, the first batch of demonstrative training bases for Guangxi Secondary Vocational Education was established. The animation training base was successively awarded as the Guangxi Animation Talent Training Base of the Autonomous Region, and the first batch of Guangxi National Cultural Inheritance and Innovation Vocational Education Bases. Computer animation and game production are the brand majors of Guangxi Secondary Vocational Education. Among the top 50, the computer animation and game production vocational education group is one of the 20 exemplary vocational education groups in Guangxi. There are 8 majors in the Business Major, including e-commerce, accounting, marketing, international business, high-star hotel operation and management, tourism service and management, western food cooking, and image design. The school gives full play to the advantages of overseas Chinese, uses overseas Chinese to build bridges, and develops exchanges and cooperation with universities and enterprises in ASEAN countries. In recent years, it has selected nearly 300 students to study in universities in ASEAN countries such as Thailand and Vietnam, and sent more than 200 students to enterprises in ASEAN countries. Internship and employment have played an active role in promoting international exchanges in vocational education and serving the construction of the "Belt and Road".

The school offers high school diploma education, short (long) Chinese education, university preparatory education, college education and other levels of education for overseas students, as well as Chinese teacher training, Chinese youth summer (winter) Education and training such as camps. So far, more than 6000 overseas students and Chinese teachers have come to the school to study, train and participate in summer and winter camps. The school has trained more than 1,600 international students. After studying in high school, the passing rate of Chinese proficiency test above level 5 reached 90.2%, and 100% of them entered Tsinghua University, Zhejiang University, Xiamen University, Sun Yat-sen University, Huaqiao University, Shanghai Jiaotong University, South China University of Technology and other top universities in China.
