Guangxi Arts University is located in Nanning, the capital of Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region. It is one of the 7 comprehensive general undergraduate higher art colleges in the country. It is now a university jointly established by the Ministry of Culture and Tourism and the People's Government of Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region, an excellent university for undergraduate teaching evaluation by the Ministry of Education, a university with a characteristic advantage in Guangxi, a university for the establishment of a doctoral unit in Guangxi, and a basic capacity building project for universities in the central and western regions of the country.

The predecessor of the school is the "Guangxi Provincial Capital National Basic School Art Teacher Training Class" initiated in 1938 by the famous Chinese musician Man Qianzi, the modern outstanding painter and art educator Xu Beihong, and the famous composer and music educator Wu Bochao. In the history of running a school for more than 80 years, Man Qianzi, Xu Beihong, Wu Bochao, Yang Taiyang, Chen Yanqiao, Chen Liang, Huang Dufeng, Zhu Peijun, Lu Huabo, Li Zhishu and other well-known artists and art educators at home and abroad have worked in the school for a long time. They taught academics, promoted literature and encouraged education, which laid a good foundation for the development of the school and accumulated a profound cultural heritage.

The school has four campuses, namely Nanhu Campus, Xiangsi Lake Campus, West Campus and Guilin Campus in Nanning City, with a total area of 655.13 acres. The school consists of the School of Music, the School of Music Education, the School of Fine Arts, the School of Art Education, the School of Design, the School of Chinese Painting/Lijiang School of Painting, the School of Dance/Affiliated Secondary Art School, the School of Humanities, the School of Film and Media, the School of Vocational Technology, and the School of Architecture. There are 16 teaching units, including the College, the School of Plastic Arts, the Public Course Teaching Department, the School of Marxism, the School of Continuing Education/Guangxi Academy of Arts Training Center, and the School of International Education, and one art research institute. The school enrolls students from all over the country, and there are about 15,000 full-time students of various types.

In terms of disciplines, there are 6 first-level master degree authorization points in fine arts, music and dance, design, art theory, drama and film, journalism and communication, 3 master degree authorization points, and 38 undergraduate majors , 11 higher vocational majors. The school has achieved full coverage of 5 first-level disciplines in the art category. Among the 29 basic majors and 4 special majors in the national art category, our school has set up 30, with a coverage rate of 90%, forming a A relatively complete higher art education system. In the fourth round of discipline evaluation by the State Council, our school’s first-level discipline of fine arts was rated as B+ (the top 20% in the country, and Guangxi had only two B+), and the two first-level disciplines of music and dance and design were rated as B (nationally In the top 30%, Guangxi has only 8 B). Among the 10 best subjects in the district, our school accounts for 3, and the proportion of subjects rated as B or higher is up to 50%, ranking first in the district. At the same time, the first-level discipline of art theory is rated as C+ (the top 50% of the country). At present, our school has two first-level disciplines of fine arts, music and dance that have been approved to be included in the first-class discipline construction in Guangxi, 5 majors have been selected as national-level first-class undergraduate professional construction sites, and 2 majors have been selected as autonomous region-level first-class undergraduate major construction sites. Advertising is one of the first six national first-class majors in the country.

In terms of faculty, there are currently more than 1,300 faculty members, more than 340 senior professional and technical positions, 924 full-time teachers, 3 of them enjoy special government allowances from the State Council, 3 of them have been hired as Bagui scholars in the autonomous region, and 2 of them have been hired by the autonomous region. For the posts of young scholars in Guizhou, 5 people were awarded the title of "Excellent Expert" by the People's Government of the Autonomous Region, 1 person was selected as a national cultural master and "four batches" talents of the Propaganda Department, and 2 people were selected as a Guangxi cultural master and "four batches" talents , 2 people were selected as the second-level candidates of Guangxi "Ten Hundred Thousand Talents Project". Among the 80 "Guangxi High-level Innovation Teams and Outstanding Scholars Program" projects cultivated during the five-year plan of the autonomous region, our school has 2 high-level innovation teams and 2 outstanding scholars. There are a group of famous teaching teachers, one of them won the national "High School Teaching Teacher Award", 2 were awarded the title of "National Model Teacher", 7 were awarded the title of "National Excellent Teacher", and 1 was awarded the title of "National Excellent Educator" , 2 people won the title of "Eight Guild Famous Teachers", 6 people won the "Guangxi University Teaching Teacher Award", and 1 person was appointed as a tenured professor in the autonomous region. In terms of scientific research and creation, the school adheres to the people-centered creation orientation, and encourages teachers and students to go deep into life and take root in the people to carry out artistic creation. In the past five years, it has obtained more than 100 scientific research projects above the provincial and ministerial level, and more than 800 other various scientific research creation projects. There are 31 patents and 64 national art funds. The number of projects is among the top of thousands of applicants in the country. It has achieved a breakthrough in obtaining projects for school students, which has had a greater impact on the country. School teachers publish hundreds of academic works, and on average hundreds of academic papers are published in domestic core authoritative journals each year, and many consulting reports have been approved by the leaders of the autonomous region. In terms of international education, the school has vigorously carried out international exchanges and educational cooperation with ASEAN as the mainstay, and has successively carried out educational cooperation exchanges with 60 foreign (overseas) colleges and national art groups in 21 countries and regions. The "China-ASEAN Music Week", "China-ASEAN Architectural Space Design Education Forum" and "China-ASEAN Dance Education Forum" organized by the school have become three influential international professional forums, attracting more than 500 foreign artists every year During the visit to the school, the "China-ASEAN Music Week" has become one of the three major platforms for the creation of "new music" in the country, and the Shanghai Conservatory of Music and the "Shanghai Contemporary Music Week" jointly declared the 2021 "Olympic" in the music industry. In 2017, our school, the China-ASEAN Center and the Regional Center for Higher Education and Development organized by the Southeast Asian Minister of Education jointly initiated the establishment of the "China-ASEAN Art University Alliance" to promote regional cultural, art and educational exchanges. The school has 645 students in Sino-foreign cooperative education and inter-school exchange programs, and 66 international students.
