Chinese National Academy of Arts is the only state-level comprehensive academic institution integrating art research, art education, art creation, intangible cultural heritage protection and culture and art think tank in China.

Chinese National Academy of Arts was developed on the basis of three academic institutions, namely the Academy of Chinese Opera, the Institute of Chinese Music and the Institute of Chinese Fine Arts, which were established in the early days of the People's Republic of China. Chinese National Academy of Arts is one of the first doctoral and master's degree-granting institutions announced by The State Council.
