Chengdu Aeronautic Polytechnic University, located in Chengdu, Sichuan Province, is a public undergraduate level vocational school, is the first batch of higher vocational colleges in the country, selected as a national demonstration higher vocational college, a high-level higher vocational school with Chinese characteristics and a professional construction plan, a high-quality higher vocational college in Sichuan Province, a Sichuan provincial "double high plan" construction college, for the Chinese People's Liberation Army targeted training of sergeant schools, National high-skilled personnel training base, AVIC high-tech and high-skilled personnel training base, aviation development high-skilled talent training base, and national vocational school principal training base. 
Chengdu Aviation Vocational and Technical University was formerly known as Chengdu Desheng Intermediate Technical School, which was founded in 1965. In 1979, the school was renamed Chengdu Aviation Industry School. In 1980, it became a national key technical secondary school. In 1998, with the approval of the Ministry of Education, the former Chengdu Aviation Industry School was rebuilt into Chengdu Aviation Vocational and Technical College. In 1999, it was transferred to Sichuan Province for joint construction between the central and local governments. In June 2025, the Ministry of Education agreed to establish Chengdu Aviation Vocational and Technical University on the basis of Chengdu Aviation Vocational and Technical College, and at the same time abolished the establishment of Chengdu Aviation Vocational and Technical College.
As of July 2025, the school's two campuses, Longquanyi and Xindu, cover an area of about 1,600 acres, with a total construction area of 430,000 square meters, a total value of teaching and scientific research equipment of 236 million yuan, and more than 1.65 million books; there are 11 secondary colleges with more than 40 majors (including 6 vocational undergraduate majors), nearly 700 full-time teachers, and more than 9,600 students.
