Changjiang Polytechnic of Art and Engineering is a private non-profit full-time general college vocational school organized by Hubei Eighteen Craftsman Cultural Development Investment Co., Ltd., approved by the Hubei Provincial People's Government, registered by the Ministry of Education, and supervised by the Hubei Provincial Department of Education. The school has a 3A scenic spot Jingzhou Jingchu Intangible Cultural Heritage Skills Inheritance Institute.

There are currently 7,800 students (September 2021). Focusing on traditional handicrafts and modern intelligent manufacturing services, the school has five majors including art engineering professional group, Internet + Internet of things professional group, new energy vehicle professional group, economic management professional group, and health care professional group. The school is the country's only vocational college with characteristics of handicrafts, and a demonstration base for the production and protection of intangible cultural heritage in Hubei Province. The Ministry of Culture and Tourism has set up a state-level Jingzhou traditional craft workstation in the school, and 12 colleges and universities, including the Academy of Fine Arts of Tsinghua University, are co-construction units of the station.

Twenty representative inheritors of intangible heritage at the national and provincial levels have signed contracts to settle in, and correspondingly established workshops for intangible heritage display, protection, inheritance, teaching and production of 20 projects including Chu-style lacquer lacquer decoration and Chu-style Qinqin. In September 2020, the new campus of the school with an area of 1,000 mu and a total investment of 1.2 billion yuan was put into use. The new campus adheres to the school concept of "Craftsman Town, Intangible Heritage University", and has adopted the "Public Training Project", "Vocational Education Project", "Intangible Heritage Protection Project", "Thousands of Craftsmanship Project", "Industry Incubation Project" and " "Study Tour Reception Project", to build an integrated complex of "school, town, industry, innovation, culture, tourism, and trade".
