CHAOHU UNIVERSITY
Chaohu University is a full-time public undergraduate university in Anhui Province. Established in 1977, its predecessor was Chaohu Normal College. In April 2002, with the approval of the Ministry of Education, it was upgraded to a undergraduate institution and renamed Chaohu University. In June 2006, it was granted the right to confer a bachelor's degree. In October 2019, it was approved to establish a new master's degree granting project as a construction unit. In February 2024, it was approved as a key project for awarding master's degrees in construction.
The University covers an area of 1324.5 acres. There are 15 secondary colleges and 56 undergraduate majors. There are currently 1100 faculty and staff members, including 382 with vice high or above professional titles, 2 leading talents of Jianghuai cultural masters, 18 provincial-level teaching masters, 39 provincial-level teaching newcomers, 16 provincial-level teaching teams, 4 provincial-level scientific research teams, 79 master's supervisors, 129 jointly trained master's students, and 549 dual teacher and dual ability teachers. There are 17052 full-time students on campus.
The University adheres to the positioning of "local and application-oriented" education. There are currently 3 national first-class undergraduate major construction sites, 1 national characteristic major, 12 provincial-level first-class undergraduate major construction sites, 8 provincial-level characteristic majors, 6 provincial-level comprehensive reform pilot majors, 2 provincial-level first-class (brand) majors, 5 provincial-level demonstration experimental training centers, 15 provincial-level outstanding talent education and training programs, and 50 provincial-level or above teaching achievement awards.
The University adheres to the educational philosophy of supporting talent cultivation through disciplinary construction. Two disciplines, Materials Science and Engineering and Sports Science, have been selected for the list of applied peak cultivation disciplines in Anhui Province. Priority will be given to the construction of three professional master's degree programs, namely Sports, Materials and Chemical Engineering, and Electronic Information. Eleven key (construction) disciplines, including Applied Economics, will be emphasized. There are currently 5 provincial-level scientific research platforms, including the Anhui Province Efficient Intelligent Photovoltaic Module Engineering Research Center, Anhui Province High Frequency Soft Magnetic and Ceramic Powder Material Engineering Research Center, Anhui Province Process Industry Digital Manufacturing Technology Engineering Research Center, Anhui Province Rural Revitalization Collaborative Technology Service Center, Anhui Province Joint Construction Discipline Key Laboratory for New Optoelectronic System Equipment and Driver Optimization, Anhui Province Literature and Art Review Base, Anhui Chaohu Culture and Economic and Social Development Research Center, and Industrial Ceramic Preparation and Application Engineering Technology Research Center. There are also 2 provincial-level educational practice platforms, including Anhui Volleyball College and Anhui Province Ethnic Minority Traditional Sports Training Base, as well as the Institute of Bioinformation Big Data Research and Application at Chaohu University. 33 level platforms. In recent years, 29 national level scientific research projects such as the National Social Science Foundation, the National Natural Science Foundation, and the National Arts Foundation have been approved, as well as over 500 provincial and ministerial level scientific research projects such as the General Humanities and Social Sciences Project of the Ministry of Education and the Provincial Natural Science Foundation Project. Authorized over 200 national invention patents.
The University adheres to seeking support through service and promoting development through contribution. We have formulated and implemented an action plan to support the construction of "three regions and one district" in Anhui Province, as well as an action plan to enhance the economic and social development of the Chaohu Lake region. We have signed more than 700 industry university research cooperation agreements with Anchao Economic Development Zone, Chaohu Municipal Government, Hefei Sports Bureau, Wanwei Group and other units, and have received nearly 200 million yuan in funding for horizontal scientific research projects. More than 60 achievements have been approved by leaders or adopted and promoted by the government, including 6 achievements such as the "Rule of Law Path for Comprehensive Governance of Chaohu Lake" which have been affirmed and approved by provincial party committee leaders, and 5 achievements such as the "Suggestions on Improving the Operational Performance of Operational Poverty Alleviation Assets" which have been adopted by central ministries and commissions.
The University adheres to open and cooperative development. Actively expand and promote exchanges and cooperation with countries along the "the Belt and Road", successively establish cooperative relations with 18 colleges and universities in South Korea, the United States, Ireland, Malaysia and other countries, and cooperate with Shannon University of Technology in Ireland - Central, Central and Western China to hold a 3+1 cooperation project for undergraduate education in hotel management. Actively integrating into the high-quality development of education integration in the Yangtze River Delta, and signing strategic cooperation framework agreements with Changzhou University and Jiaxing University. Signed cooperation agreements with 6 universities both inside and outside the province to carry out joint training for master's students.

Since its establishment, the school has trained more than 80000 senior specialized talents, making important contributions to the economic and social development of the country and local areas. Over the past five years, students have won 3746 provincial or above subject skills competitions, including 697 national level awards. One student was awarded the title of "2022-2023 International Student Ambassador" by the Irish Ministry of Education, one graduate was awarded the "National Outstanding Award for Grassroots Employment of College Graduates" in 2022, two students were listed in the "National Scholarship Award Student Representative List" of People's Daily, and six students were awarded the "Star of Self Strengthening of Chinese College Students".
