Bozhou University is a provincial public ordinary undergraduate college approved by the Ministry of Education. It is located in the national historical and cultural city - Huazhou, Anhui Province. Here, the cultural heritage is long-lasting and the human resources are abundant. It enjoys the titles of "Chinese Medicine Capital", "Chinese Wine City", "The Former Capital of Cao Wei", and "The Birthplace of Chinese Five-Animal Exercises".

The school originated from the Montqing Teachers' Training Institute founded in 1909, and was established as Montqing Normal School in 1952. On March 3, 2002, it was upgraded independently to Bozhou Normal College, and on March 3, 2016, it was upgraded independently to Bozhou University. In May 2020, it was listed as a university with the right to confer bachelor's degrees. In 2024, it passed the national assessment of undergraduate teaching quality.

The university has 19 internal institutions and 11 secondary teaching colleges. There are over 11,000 full-time students. It has the South Lake Campus and Wencai Campus. The campus covers an area of 1,526 mu, has 1,193,000 volumes of physical books, and 1,022,000 volumes of electronic books.

It adheres to quality-oriented education, focuses on enhancing students' comprehensive qualities. It adheres to the "five education" principle and formulates the "Labor Education Implementation Plan of Bozhou University" and the "Aesthetic Education Implementation Plan of Bozhou University", and orderly implements the reform of sports and art club systems. It continuously deepens teaching reforms, highlights the student-centered approach, promotes the integration of the first classroom teaching and the second classroom quality expansion, and promotes the all-round development of students in terms of morality, intelligence, physical fitness, aesthetics, and labor. With the quality improvement projects as the starting point, it strengthens the construction of "four brands", and the educational and teaching reform has achieved remarkable results. It has been selected as 4 demonstration courses of the Ministry of Education's "Expansion Project", 286 provincial quality projects have been立项， 68 provincial first-class courses have been approved， and 15 provincial teaching awards have been won (including 2 special awards and 2 first prizes). Students have won 92 national awards in science and technology competitions (including 15 first prizes)， 273 first prizes at provincial and ministerial levels. A total of 28 A-level events have been won， and 559 provincial-level and above student innovation and entrepreneurship training projects have been approved. In 2024， it won the championship of the China College Students Dragon Boat Championship， and in 2025， it won the second place in the Chinese Dragon Boat Race Competition and three gold medals in the provincial selection competition of the 15th National Games Dragon Boat Project for Anhui Province. It will represent Anhui Province to participate in the 15th National Games and represent China to participate in the first Asian University Dragon Boat Championship. The recruitment performance assessment has been rated as "excellent" for four consecutive years. The "Spring Bud Dreaming" and "Green Imprint， Beautiful Countryside， Summer Tour of Villages， and Assist Village Development" social practice teams have won the national excellence award. Four people have received the "China College Student Self-Motivation Star" scholarship， and one person has been shortlisted for the national "College Student of the Year". The employment rate of graduates is above 95%， and the postgraduate admission rate has been increasing year by year.

It adheres to the principle of strengthening the school with characteristics， actively builds professional clusters and creates advantageous and distinctive disciplines. It comprehensively strengthens discipline and professional construction， initially forming a discipline and professional system featuring traditional Chinese medicine and food science and engineering disciplines， with engineering and medicine as the focus， and literature， management， education， art， science， economics， and other disciplines developing in a coordinated manner. It has approved 2 provincial peak cultivation disciplines of traditional Chinese medicine and food science and engineering， and traditional Chinese medicine is a provincial characteristic cultivation discipline. There are 37 undergraduate majors， and the proportion of majors serving the "emerging industries" of Anhui Province is 86.49%. There are 4 provincial first-class undergraduate professional construction points of traditional Chinese medicine， brewing engineering， early childhood education， and primary education， 2 provincial micro-professions of "Traditional Chinese Medicine Manufacturing Technology and Application" and "Brewing and Blending Technology of Baijiu"， and the traditional Chinese medicine major is an Anhui provincial characteristic major construction project， and the brewing engineering major is an Anhui provincial characteristic major cultivation project.

It adheres to strengthening the school with talents， continuously strengthens the construction of the faculty team. There are 751 on-duty staff， including 520 full-time teachers， 63 senior professional titles， 147 associate professional titles， and 132 teachers with doctoral degrees. There are 326 dual-skilled teachers. There is 1 provincial academic and technical leader, 9 provincial teaching masters, 23 provincial teaching newcomers, and 16 provincial teaching teams.

We have persisted in serving the university and continuously enhanced our ability to serve society. We have insisted on regarding the high-quality development of the regional economy and society as an important task for our school's operation, and have comprehensively promoted scientific and technological innovation. We have been approved as a national intellectual property information public service network and a provincial postdoctoral research station. We have established 1 provincial engineering research center, 1 provincial university key laboratory, 1 provincial university humanities and social sciences key research base, 1 provincial social science popularization base, and 1 provincial traditional Chinese culture inheritance base. We have jointly established the Anhui Modern Chinese Medicine Common Technology Research Center and the Anhui Modern Chinese Medicine Industry Innovation Research Institute with Anhui University of Traditional Chinese Medicine, and jointly built the Bozhou College Bozhou Innovation and Entrepreneurship Center with Bozhou Industrial Park. We have established 10 university-enterprise collaborative innovation centers with local leading enterprises such as Jiren Pharmaceutical Group and Anhui Xiehe Cheng Pharmaceutical Processing Co., Ltd., and have established 82 enterprises with university-industry-research cooperation relationships. We have strengthened organized research, have initiated 657 research projects at all levels and grades, have published 1,347 papers, and have 229 papers indexed in Web of Science (SCIE/SSCI), 4 high-impact papers, and 1 hot paper. We have received 39 reports for consultation and advice from municipal and provincial-level leaders, have published 35 academic works, and have received 8 provincial and ministerial-level science and technology awards. We have undertaken 336 external projects. We have formulated 5 "Anhui Traditional Chinese Medicine Decoction Pieces Processing Specifications" and 13 Anhui medicinal materials standards, participated in the formulation of an international standard (Ligusticum chuanxiong), and have cultivated 3 non-primary crop varieties such as "Aman Shen 1 No.", "Wanlu Ba 1 No.", and "Wanbai Zi 1 No.". We have edited and completed "The Great Dictionary of Chinese Medicinal Resources - Anhui Volume 5" and "The Great Dictionary of Chinese Medicinal Resources - Anhui Volume 8". We have actively promoted non-degree education and training, jointly established a joint training center with the Municipal Cyberspace Affairs Bureau and the Municipal Tax Bureau, and regularly conduct training activities. We have carried out vocational skills level certification work. We have deeply advanced the construction of the senior university, and have extensively carried out "Delivering Education to Doorsteps".

We have persisted in cultivating culture to strengthen the university, effectively demonstrating the function of cultural education. We have created a "Bozhou Culture" characteristic brand, and have been approved as the "Bozhou Culture Research Center" of Anhui Provincial Key Research Base for Humanities and Social Sciences. We have published 16 academic monographs such as "The History of Bozhou" and "Bozhou Culture Series", and compiled school-based textbooks such as "An Outline of Bozhou Culture", "Ten Lectures on Bozhou Culture", and "Bozhou Paper Cutting". We have set up "Bozhou Culture" lecture halls, and offered courses such as "Bozhou Culture Research" and "Five-Animal Exercises", promoting "Bozhou Culture" into campus culture, course teaching, and social practice. The "China Education Daily" has reported on the educational experience of "Bozhou Culture".

In recent years, under the strong leadership of the provincial Party committee and the provincial government, under the strong guidance of the Provincial Committee of Education Work and the Provincial Department of Education, and with the unremitting efforts of all teachers and staff, the university's various undertakings have developed comprehensively. It has successively received titles such as "National Excellent EasyCampus Co-construction University", "National Energy-Saving Public Institution Demonstration Unit", "Anhui Provincial Civilized Unit", and "Provincial Public Institution Energy and Resources Measurement Demonstration Unit".
