Baotou Railway Vocational & Technical College | Chinese Universities

Baotou Railway Vocational and Technical College is a public full-time higher vocational and technical college approved by the People's Government of Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region and registered by the Ministry of Education in January 2008. It is also the only railway vocational college in Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region. The predecessor of the college was Baotou Railway Engineering college, which was founded in 1956. In 1958, it was upgraded to Baotou Railway College with a secondary technical college department. In 1964, the secondary technical college system was restored. The college now focuses on higher vocational education and has a training function.

The college always adheres to the educational philosophy of "highlighting railway characteristics, serving local economy, strengthening connotation construction, improving education quality and striving for first-class in an all-round way", and focuses on cultivating highly skilled professionals with solid foundation, strong practical ability, high comprehensive quality, innovative spirit and craftsman spirit. Now a railway industrial chain has been built, covering railway engineering construction, transportation management, equipment manufacturing and other railway transportation professional groups. The three key specialties of railway engineering technology, railway traffic operation management and railway locomotive have obvious advantages. In 2015, it was approved as a demonstration higher vocational college construction unit in the Autonomous Region, forming 7 categories of 30 majors. It has created 11 specialty brands and 24 quality courses. At present, it has 1 national transportation demonstration specialty of vocational colleges, 2 national backbone specialties, 3 autonomous region level secondary vocational education quality improvement project demonstration specialties, 2 specialties approved to construct autonomous region level professional teaching resource library projects. According to the talent needs of the industry and regional economic development, two new majors were added in 2017, namely bullet train maintenance Technology and Railway Bridge and Tunnel Engineering Technology, which effectively gave full play to the leading and radiating role of the brand specialty in the overall development of the professional group and the college.

In the course of more than 60 years, the college has always adhered to the mission of cultivating virtues and cultivating people, serving the strategic needs of the country, taking multiple measures to cultivate and introduce authoritative and influential railway academic leaders in the industry, vigorously training "double-qualified" backbone teachers and young teachers, employing leading talents in the railway industry, masters and craftsmen part-time teachers, and conducting college-enterprise cooperation with many railway enterprises. It has actively explored the collaborative education model of college-enterprise "dual subject" characteristics, such as set (fixed) single training, modern apprenticeship, and alternation of work and learning. It has reached cooperation consensus with relevant colleges and universities in Laos, Mongolia, Russia, Pakistan and other countries in professional construction, teacher training, personnel training, academic exchange and other aspects. Cooperate with Beijing Jiaotong college to carry out internship training for international students; We have signed cooperation agreements with Inner Mongolia college of Science and Technology and Erdos College of Applied Technology for three majors, connecting with talent training channels. In recent years, the employment rate of graduates has always been above 95%, forming a college feature of "training high-quality, technical and technical talents to serve the railway and local economy and society".

The college has led the establishment of Inner Mongolia Railway Vocational Education Group and college-enterprise Cooperation Education Council, built a college-enterprise in-depth cooperation platform, and realized the sharing and service of educational resources of the college, railway transportation industry resources and technical resources. In 2016, a train ticket agent was set up to provide a platform for students to combine knowledge and practice, and gradually build a talent support chain, staff training and information exchange chain, student practice and graduate employment chain to serve the railway transportation industry. According to the vocational positions and technical specifications, 46 training rooms and 52 off-campus training bases for railway and urban rail transportation have been built in conjunction with the public works, vehicle, machinery, electrical and vehicle units under the Hohhot Railway Bureau.
