Baoji Vocational & Technical College is a public full-time ordinary higher vocational college approved by the People's Government of Shaanxi Province in April 2003 and registered with the Ministry of Education. It is located in Baoji City, the hometown of Emperor Yan, the ancestor of the Chinese nation, the birthplace of Zhou and Qin cultures, an important industrial town in western China, and the second largest city in Shaanxi Province. The college has a 120-year history of running schools, inheriting the vocational education traditions of 7 original municipal-level national and provincial key secondary specialized schools, including Shaanxi Fengxiang Normal School (1902), Baoji Health School (1934), Baoji School of Traditional Chinese Medicine (1952), Shaanxi Baoji Agricultural School (1959), Baoji Industrial School (1964), Baoji Finance and Economics School (1978), and Baoji Normal School (1992). It took the lead in passing the evaluation of the talent training level of higher vocational colleges by the Ministry of Education in the province. Currently, it is a provincial-level "Double High-Level Plan" construction unit, a provincial-level demonstration higher vocational college, a provincial-level civilized campus, a provincial-level safe campus, a provincial-level garden-style unit, a provincial-level smart campus demonstration school, a demonstration center for mental health education and counseling in ordinary colleges and universities in the province, a national high-quality school for rural revitalization talent training, and one of the top 100 vocational education employment colleges in China. It won the excellent grade in the city's target responsibility assessment in 2019 and 2021, and ranked first in the national higher vocational normal school ranking in 2020 and 2022.

The college is located in the East District of Baoji National High-Tech Industrial Development Zone, covering an area of more than 2,300 mu, with a total construction area of 738,300 square meters and a total fixed asset value of 1.878 billion yuan. It has 1.8739 million books of various types and teaching instruments and equipment worth 220 million yuan. It has 15 party, government and mass departments, 6 secondary colleges, 6 teaching auxiliary departments, and a Grade II A affiliated hospital (Baoji Second People's Hospital, founded in 1937). There are 1,528 faculty members and medical workers, including 917 full-time teachers, 38 with senior professional titles, 337 with deputy senior professional titles, 329 teachers with doctoral or master's degrees, and 608 double-qualified teachers. There are 17,000 full-time students, offering 54 three-year higher vocational majors, covering 12 major categories and 33 professional categories.

Currently, the college has 1 national-level key major, 23 pilot projects of the Ministry of Education's "1+X Certificate System", 5 provincial-level first-class cultivation majors, 5 provincial-level key majors, 3 provincial-level professional comprehensive reform projects, 8 provincial-level key majors, 7 provincial-level excellent online open courses, 3 provincial-level innovation and entrepreneurship education courses, 6 provincial-level excellent textbooks, and 2 provincial-level excellent teaching teams, as well as 6 provincial-level demonstration training bases. In the past three years, the college has won 1 first prize of provincial teaching achievements. Teachers have won 97 first, second and third prizes in various national and provincial teaching competitions. Students have won 141 first, second and third prizes in provincial skill competitions, 1 first prize, 3 second prizes and 5 third prizes in national skill competitions, ranking among the top in higher vocational colleges in the province.
