BENGBU UNIVERSITY

Bengbu University is located in the central city of Bengbu in the Huai River Basin and northern Anhui Province. It is a provincial-level undergraduate university with a focus on engineering and coordinated development of multiple disciplines. The establishment of higher education by the school began in 1978. In March 2007, with the approval of the Ministry of Education, it was established on the basis of the merger of the original Bengbu Education College, Bengbu Higher Vocational College, and Bengbu Workers' University. In August 2011, the school management system was upgraded from "provincial and municipal co construction, with municipal management as the main focus" to "provincial and municipal co construction, with provincial management as the main focus"; In 2014, the school passed the qualification evaluation of undergraduate teaching work by the Ministry of Education; In 2019, it was approved and evaluated by the Ministry of Education for undergraduate teaching work, and was designated as a provincial-level project construction unit for master's degree training in the same year.

The school covers an area of 1128 acres, with a campus construction area of 370000 square meters, a total fixed asset value of 840 million yuan, a total teaching and research instrument and equipment value of 171 million yuan, 1.4453 million paper books, 974700 electronic books, 24 electronic resources (databases), 1092 paper journals, and 29 provincial-level demonstration experimental training centers, virtual simulation experimental teaching centers, etc. The smart classroom has been built and successfully put into use.

The school currently has 56 undergraduate majors, covering 7 disciplines including engineering, science, management, economics, literature, art, and education. It has 14 secondary colleges (teaching departments) and more than 17500 full-time students. At present, there are 872 full-time teachers, 274 teachers with senior professional titles, 726 teachers with doctor's and master's degrees, 50 national outstanding teachers, provincial model teachers, excellent teachers, exemplary individual with teacher ethics, reserve candidates for provincial academic and technical leaders, special allowances from the State Council, provincial government, etc.

The school actively promotes the construction of new engineering and humanities, continuously deepens education and teaching reform, and has been selected as a demonstration construction institution in the second batch of the Ministry of Education's Science Work Ability Enhancement Plan (Million and Ten Million Project). It has also been approved for the first batch of four national first-class undergraduate courses, 12 national first-class undergraduate majors have been established under the "Double Thousand Plan", and three national level majors have been included in the enrollment of first tier universities. Two provincial-level first-class (brand) majors, six provincial-level characteristic majors, 12 provincial-level comprehensive reform pilot majors, and eight provincial-level outstanding talent education and training program majors have been approved, ranking among the top among similar universities in the province. Deepening the reform of innovation and entrepreneurship education, since 2021, 141 national level college student innovation and entrepreneurship training programs have been approved, and 422 provincial level college student innovation and entrepreneurship training programs have been approved; Received 653 national and provincial-level discipline and skill competition awards.

The school has deeply promoted the reform of the talent training model integrating industry and education, and has established 91 collaborative education projects between industry and academia under the Ministry of Education. It has also co built 6 industry colleges with industry enterprises, including Huawei Information and Network Technology College and Guoxian Technology Intelligent Manufacturing Industry College, and won the "Zhuo Yuehua is an ICT College" award. It is the only undergraduate university in East China to receive this award. Collaborating with Anhui Dijing Optoelectronics Technology Co., Ltd. to explore and practice "3+1" joint talent training models such as "Dijing Class" has effectively supported the talent needs of local industry enterprises. Actively expanding graduate education and jointly training more than 40 graduate students. In recent years, the initial employment rate of graduates has remained stable at 90%, higher than the provincial average.

The school adheres to collaborative innovation and is committed to serving society. It has jointly established the Anhui Province Silicon Based New Materials Collaborative Innovation Center with the People's Government of Bengbu City and the Shanghai Institute of Ceramics, Chinese Academy of Sciences. There are 14 provincial-level and municipal scientific research platforms, including the Anhui Province Silicon Based New Materials Engineering Laboratory, the Anhui Province Engineering Technology Research Center for Silicon Based New Materials, and the Bengbu City Laboratory for Functional Powder Materials. 23 provincial-level excellent scientific research and innovation teams and renowned teacher studios have been approved. In recent years, more than 230 provincial-level scientific research projects such as the National Natural Science Foundation have been approved, and more than 1000 patent authorizations have been granted, including more than 160 invention patents.

The university has steadily promoted open education, focusing on countries along the "the Belt and Road", and has established cooperative relations with universities in Hungary, Ukraine, Ireland, the United States, South Korea, Italy, Thailand and other countries, offering compulsory and optional courses in Hungarian. With a focus on serving national lifelong education and building a learning society, the Bengbu Branch of the National Digital Learning Resource Center has been established. It is a "National Employee Education and Training Demonstration Point" of the All China Federation of Trade Unions and a key university for migrant worker training under the Anhui Provincial Department of Education. We always attach importance to and persist in putting effort into characteristic culture, and regard inheriting and promoting Huaihe River culture as an important task of cultural education. We have been approved as Anhui Province Social Science Knowledge Popularization Base, China Association for Science and Technology Learning Style Inheritance Demonstration Base, and Anhui Province Science and Technology Popularization Base.
