Anyang Vocational and Technical College was established in 2009 and is a full-time public higher vocational college under the municipal government, focusing on science, engineering, and medicine. The school was established by integrating resources from three institutions: Angang Workers' University, Anyang Radio and Television University, and Anyang Traditional Chinese Medicine School. Its history dates back to 1958 as the provincial key secondary vocational school, Anyang Health School, and oversees Anyang Secondary Vocational Technical School and Anyang Advanced Technical School. The school is currently one of the first batch of high-level professional cluster construction units in Henan Province, a provincial higher vocational education characteristic institution, a provincial model school for law-based governance, a provincial model university for national defense education, a provincial demonstration university for deepening innovation and entrepreneurship education reform, and a Henan Province civilized campus.

The university currently has three campuses: the main campus, the East Campus, and the North Campus. The campus covers more than 1,100 mu, with a building area of 443,000 square meters and fixed assets valued at over 800 million yuan. The school holds more than 964,000 physical books and more than 472,000 electronic books. The school currently has 977 faculty and staff members, including 213 with senior professional titles, 342 with doctoral or master's degrees, and 233 teachers with dual qualifications.

The university has 10 secondary colleges, including the School of Aviation, Mechanical and Electrical Engineering, Automotive Engineering, and Nursing, offering 8 major clusters and 54 majors focused on aircraft electromechanical equipment maintenance, smart health and elderly care, intelligent manufacturing, and new energy vehicles. It has established one national-level backbone major for innovation initiatives, one national-level productive training base, two key majors supported by central government, and two pilot majors for teaching reform by the Provincial Department of Education. There are 18,000 full-time vocational students enrolled in various types.

The school thoroughly implements General Secretary Xi Jinping's important statements on vocational education, the National Education Conference, and the spirit of the new vocational education law, deepens school-enterprise cooperation, promotes the integration of science and education, and provides strong talent support and guarantees for the transformation and upgrading of local economic and industrial structures and high-quality economic and social development. The school closely aligns with the needs of local industrial and economic development, continuously optimizing its professional structure. Adhering to the educational positioning of "based in Anyang City, serving the metropolitan area, building dual universities, and supporting new engines," the school established a linkage mechanism of "market demand—major evaluation—dynamic optimization," adding six new majors in intelligent manufacturing, big data technology, and smart health care, eliminating 13 lagging majors, effectively improving the alignment between professional cluster construction and key regional industries. The school adheres to the path of high-quality development through industry-education integration and school-enterprise cooperation, focusing on regional economic and industrial needs. Focusing on major national strategies for high-quality development and Anyang's four leading industries worth hundreds of billions, the city strengthens the close connection between professional construction and regional industrial development. It has established school-enterprise cooperation with dozens of enterprises including BYD, Huawei, Yutong Group, Zhengzhou Foxconn, Shaanxi Jinyu, and Anyang Quanfeng, pioneering a government-university-enterprise mixed-ownership system, establishing 206 on-campus practice bases covering all majors, and 183 off-campus internship and training bases and innovation bases. In 2019, the school obtained the "Industry-Education Integration Training Model" and the "CCAR-147 Civil Aircraft Maintenance Training Institution Qualification Certificate" approved by the Civil Aviation Administration of China, becoming the only vocational college in Henan Province to train current student aircraft maintenance engineers. The school adheres to an integrated development approach of "learning, training, competition, and innovation," sparking new vitality in economic growth. The school places great emphasis on the construction of "hardware," promotes "three education reforms" and teaching and diagnostic reforms, and has established a technical and skilled talent training system integrating social responsibility, innovative spirit, and practical ability. In recent years, a large number of outstanding students have repeatedly achieved excellent results in national and provincial vocational college skills competitions, cumulatively winning 2 national first prizes, 20 second prizes, 10 third prizes, and over 300 provincial awards.
