Tianjin Sino-German University of Applied Sciences

Tianjin Sino-German University of Applied Technology is the first university of applied technology in China approved by the Ministry of Education. Its predecessor Tianjin Sino-German Vocational and Technical College was founded in 1985 by combining Tianjin Sino-German Modern Industrial Technology Training Center and Tianjin Enterprise Management Training Center. It is the largest cooperation project in the field of vocational education and training between China and the governments of Germany, Japan and Spain. The university is located in Tianjin Haihe Education Park on the shore of the Bohai Sea and is affiliated to the Tianjin Municipal Government. Tianjin University is a "Master's degree granting unit of 2017-2020 project construction university", and has been identified as a world-class applied technology university construction unit by the municipal government, with a clear construction goal of "striving to become a world-class applied technology university by 2030".

In October 2014, when Premier Li Keqiang of The State Council visited Germany to attend the 7th Sino-German Economic and Technological Cooperation Forum, he presented the "Luban Lock" made by students of our university as a national gift to German Chancellor Angela Merkel, greatly enhancing the influence of vocational education. In June 2008, June 2013 and May 2017, Liu Yandong, then a member of the Political Bureau of the CPC Central Committee and Vice Premier of The State Council, visited our university three times during the National Skills Competition. In April 2011, Zhang Gaoli, then Secretary of the CPC Municipal Committee, Lu Xin, then Vice Minister of Education and other relevant leaders visited the university and gave full affirmation to the planning, design, construction and relocation of the new campus. In April 2017, Chen Changzhi, then Vice Chairman of the Standing Committee of the National People's Congress, Chairman of the Central Committee of China Civil Development Association and chairman of the China Vocational Education Association, met with relevant university leaders. In October 2018, Li Hongzhong, member of the Political Bureau of the CPC Central Committee and Secretary of the CPC Tianjin Municipal Committee, attended the inauguration ceremony of LMC Vocational Education and Training Center and spoke highly of the university's work. In April 2020, Zhang Guoqing, then mayor of Tianjin, visited the university for research.

The university covers an area of 1,000 mu, with a building area of 297,300 square meters. There are 365 experimental and training places for integrated teaching and doing. The university has more than 20,000 sets of teaching and research equipment, valued at more than 500 million yuan, many of which are advanced production equipment introduced from Germany, Switzerland and Spain. It has 4 provincial and ministerial scientific research platforms, such as Tianjin Engineering Technology Center and Tianjin Science Popularization Base. With China Automotive Technology and Research Center Co., LTD., university of Mechanical Engineering of Xi 'an Jiaotong University, Tianjin Tianjian Forging Press Co., LTD., Inventec Group (Tianjin) Electronic Technology Co., LTD., etc., it has established 15 research platforms including National and local joint engineering research Center, National Collaborative Innovation Center and Tianjin Enterprise Key Laboratory. And Civil Aviation University of China to jointly build "aviation and aerospace Specialty group". Following the practical teaching concept of "Training the best talents with high-end equipment and advanced technology", the company has built a multi-type "teaching factory" integrating production and education around manufacturing and manufacturing services.

The university now has 9 application-oriented professional groups, including advanced manufacturing technology, automation technology, aerospace technology and service, transportation technology and service, software and communication technology, new energy, economic and trade management, cultural creativity and technology, and applied language, with 21 undergraduate majors and 25 higher vocational majors. The professional layout of coordinated development of management and art. It focuses on the construction of professional master's degree programs in the field of machinery, and jointly trains master students with Tianjin University of Technology, Tianjin University of Science and Technology, Tianjin Vocational and Technical Normal University and other colleges and universities. The university now has 11508 full-time students, including 89 degree-level international students. Over the past three years, 85,000 people have received non-academic education and training.

The university has 720 faculty members, including 40% of the full-time teachers with associate professor or above titles and 84% of the full-time teachers with master's degree or above. Each professional group is equipped with foreign experts and visiting professors. There are 12 special professors and more than 60 visiting professors in the university. Among the more than 100 foreign experts who have worked in the university, 5 have won the National Friendship Award and 7 have won the Tianjin Haihe Friendship Award. The university has 2 national teaching teams; It has a group of high-level talents, such as young and middle-aged leading talents of Tianjin Innovative Talents Promotion Plan, famous teachers of provincial and ministerial level, and first-level candidates of Tianjin "131" Innovative Talents Cultivation Project. 75% of the full-time teachers have enterprise work experience. There are 3 national technical experts, 4 provincial and ministerial technical experts, and 1 Tianjin Skills Master studio. The university has 1 national teaching achievement grand prize, 2 national teaching achievement first prize and 7 national teaching achievement second prize. It has built 15 national quality courses, 9 national quality resource-sharing courses, and planned, designed, organized and implemented 31 national skill competitions. Huang Yanpei Vocational Education Award Outstanding Principal Award, Outstanding university Award, Outstanding Teacher Award and Theoretical Research Award. In recent years, it has undertaken 12 national research projects, 207 provincial and ministerial research projects, won 15 provincial and ministerial science and technology awards, and 751 authorized patents. From 2017 to 2020, it sent 448 science and technology special agents to serve enterprises. The number of funded funds has ranked the first among all colleges and universities in Tianjin for 4 consecutive years. In Tianjin, it took the lead in establishing the Social Science Union of Tianjin Sino-German University of Applied Technology, and the Working Committee of Tianjin Sino-German University of Applied Technology of China Vocational Education Association.

Adhering to the principle of seeking support in service and development in contribution, the university actively serves the Beijing-Tianjin-Hebei coordinated development strategy and supports the construction of Chengde Vocational College of Applied Technology. To serve the Belt and Road Initiative, the Lancang-Mekong Vocational Education and Training Center and Luban Workshop in Cambodia were set up, and the construction of Luban Workshop in Nigeria was actively promoted. Serving the strategy of "manufacturing power", relying on the first-class enterprises such as GF of Switzerland, Phoenix of Germany, Shenzhen Guzhou High-tech, Tianjian Technology, etc., to create a "mass innovation platform"; Serving the targeted poverty alleviation strategy, supporting Guizhou Bijie Vocational education, participating in the construction of Hotan Vocational and Technical College, assisting Jiuquan Vocational and Technical College and Hengshui Vocational and Technical College in pairs, enrolling Xinjiang bilingual students, and helping poverty-stricken villages in pairs.

At present, the university is actively exploring the construction of a modern vocational education system, to promote the construction of a world-class university of applied technology.
