Anhui Second Medical College is a public undergraduate university under the supervision of the Anhui Provincial Health Commission. The school is located in Hefei City, with Wuhu Road Campus, Furong Road Campus and Xinqiao Campus, covering an area of 1,182.58 acres, and more than 12,000 full-time undergraduate and junior college students.

Anhui Second Medical College, formerly known as Hefei Health School, was founded in 1955; In 1969, it moved to Chaohu City; In September 1974, it moved back to Hefei City and set up the Anhui Provincial Health Cadre Training School; In July 1978, Hefei Health School was restored; In June 2001, it was upgraded to Anhui Health Vocational and Technical College. In March 2002, it was renamed Anhui Medical College. In June 2025, it will be upgraded to Anhui Second Medical College.

The school currently has a total construction area of 407,395.86 square meters, of which the teaching and scientific research administrative room area is 252,714.63 square meters, the total value of teaching instruments and equipment is 237,348,600 yuan, and the total number of books in the library is equivalent to 1,739,100 books. The school has 12 colleges: School of Clinical Medicine (School of General Medicine), School of Stomatology, School of Medical Technology, School of Nursing, School of Public Health and Health Management, School of Pharmacy, School of Public Foundation, School of Basic Medicine, School of Marxism, School of Innovation and Entrepreneurship, School of International Education, and School of Continuing Education. The main task of the Anhui Academy of Medical Sciences managed by the school is to undertake the research of basic medicine and applied medicine in the province, and at the same time actively promote the industrialization of scientific research achievements and provide effective scientific and technological services to the outside world. The hospital has five professional medical research institutes: the Institute of Traditional Chinese Medicine, the Institute of Pharmacology and Toxicology, the Institute of Microbiology, the Institute of Clinical Medicine, and the Institute of Preventive Medicine. Teachers have obtained 9 international invention patents and 30 national invention patents, and students have obtained 1,037 new utility patents. The Journal of Anhui Medical College has been rated as an "excellent journal" by the China University Journal Research Association three times.

The school actively carries out international exchanges and cooperation. The school has the "International Student Recruitment and Training Qualification" and will start recruiting the first batch of international students in 2021. As a partner institution of the Singapore Nursing and Medical Full Scholarship Program designated by the Ministry of Education, more than 250 students have been selected to study, work and live in Singapore.
